Mask difficult feelings with alcohol? At BEST you have a hangover to deal with the next day. Go shopping, and you’ll be stuck with the bill. If you judge yourself for having feelings you can add self-esteem issues to the pile, and if you force yourself to “think positively” when it’s not authentic you’ll just have emotions slipping out the back door and surprising you when you least expect it.
As they say, denial ain’t just a river in Egypt. What’s worse is that many people, when life gets tough, feel guilty if they have a moment when they don’t feel sad! They feel a responsibility to be vigilant about it.
